The AN/PVS-31A BNVD is a Gen III dual-tube white phosphor night vision goggle with manual gain and focus, and pods that rotate independently for stowage or monocular use. It turns off automatically when stowed and mounts to fielded dovetail helmet mounts.

    Situational Awareness

    L3Harris describes the BNVD as a compact, low-profile dual-tube goggle that gives better situational awareness than a single-tube goggle, designed with input from Special Operations Forces operators.

    Target Detection

    White phosphor Gen III tubes show low-light scenes in black and white with added contrast in shapes and shadows, giving the operator more visual information for assessment and target acquisition.

    Helmet Mounted Use

    The goggle works with fielded dovetail helmet mounts, and its rotating binocular design stows low against the helmet or can be used as a single monocular.
